Creating renewable energy is easier than ever and it’s more of an imperative today. As I have detailed elsewhere true green power is local power. Power lost in transport, energy lost in transporting fuel, etc. means that even power produced by solar panels or other clean energy sources is still better produced locally. Between the environmental impact and the potential monetary savings, building green power should be imperative to all environmentalists today.

That, however, has the feeling that it’s a fairly tall order. However, today it’s easier than ever.

You can build green power!

Today it is easier than ever to build green power systems at home. Anyone can build some kind of green power. The barriers are falling- it is cheaper to build, the systems are more reliable and stable, and the various governments now provide tax breaks and sometimes direct financial incentive to build green power at home. Whether you are more interested in saving money or saving the environment, it is a valuable undertaking. And whether you want to spend several thousand dollars and have someone else do it, or spend several hundred and make your own home energy system, there are options available.

Today, you can build a solar power system for $200 if you have the ingenuity. And if you lack the building know-how or desire, you can still install one on a budget that many people would find acceptably priced.

This leads into a second point- the technology has changed. As we have developed more and more advanced technology, the simple technologies, such as wind turbines, hydro-power turbines, and solar cells, have become cheaper, smaller, and easier to install. Advances in technology go hand-in-hand with the economics to make building a power system at home more feasible than ever.

Lastly, today there is a stronger realization of the imperative to build green power. Few would argue that it’s a bad thing to build a solar powered system and get some free electricity from the sun. Some might argue that it’s unnecessary, but most would be impressed by your project. It’s much more supported. As such, there are far more products on the market, from guidebooks, to home wind turbines, to all the supporting components necessary to wire your home power system.

This site is dedicated to helping provide information on creating green power in your own home. Any comments are welcome, and any suggestions are welcome.

Lastly, good luck building!
